Zoom · How to use (B2C learner) — Elsa Meeting Companion
B2C learner · Zoom

Turn every Zoom meeting into an English coaching session

Elsa Meeting Companion listens to what you say in your Zoom calls and gives you personalized pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary feedback within minutes — automatically, after the call is over. You never have to record anything yourself.

Before you start

You need three things:

1

An ELSA account

Sign up for free at elsaspeak.com or in the ELSA mobile app.

2

Your own Zoom account

Any personal or work Zoom account works. You only need to be the host or a participant on your meetings.

3

Cloud recording, ideally

Zoom cloud recording lets ELSA get your meeting audio automatically. Free Zoom accounts can still use ELSA — just enable local recording during the call.

Option A · On the ELSA mobile app

The fastest path if you want feedback on your phone right after each call.

iOS & Android
1

Install and open ELSA Speak

Download from the App Store or Google Play. Sign in with the account you use on the web.

2

Go to Preference → Connect Meeting Apps

Open Preference, then find the Connect Meeting Apps list. You’ll see Zoom, Google, and other providers you can link.

3

Tap Zoom — “Connect your Zoom account to get call recordings and transcripts”

ELSA will open Zoom’s sign-in page. Log in with your Zoom account and press Allow. When you return, the Zoom row shows a green Connected badge.

4

Hold your next Zoom call as normal

Turn on cloud recording (or local recording) inside Zoom. You don’t need to invite a bot or click anything else — ELSA syncs your calendar in the background.

5

Open the meeting in ELSA

Two to five minutes after the call ends, a card appears on your ELSA home screen. Tap it to see per-participant transcripts, your speaking time, and your personalized feedback report.

💡
Deep link into a specific meeting from anywhere with elsaspeak://goto?location=analyzer-feedback&id=<meeting_id>. Useful if you get a link in a chat.

Option B · On app.elsaspeak.com

The best experience if you prefer working on a laptop or want to review transcripts side-by-side.

1

Sign in at app.elsaspeak.com

Open app.elsaspeak.com and log in with your ELSA account.

2

Go to Settings → Integrations → Zoom

Click Connect Zoom. You’ll be redirected to Zoom to authorize ELSA. Accept the permissions and you’ll bounce back to ELSA automatically.

3

See your upcoming and past meetings

Your calendar starts syncing right away. Upcoming meetings appear in the sidebar; past meetings from the last 30 days populate within a minute.

4

Join your next Zoom meeting and record it

Host your meeting like normal. Turn on Zoom cloud recording (recommended) or local recording. Nothing else is required.

5

Review the report

Open the meeting from your dashboard once it appears. You’ll see:

  • Every participant with playable audio clips
  • A pronunciation score (0–100) for your speaking segments
  • Fluency, pace, and filler-word analysis
  • Vocabulary suggestions tailored to how you speak in real work situations

What you get after each meeting

0–100 pronunciation score

Weighted across every full sentence you spoke — not just isolated words.

Word-level guidance

Which sounds you nailed, which ones tripped you up, and how to fix them — tied to ELSA’s existing Assessment engine.

Custom lessons

ELSA auto-generates a short lesson set from the words and sounds you struggled with in the meeting.

~2–5 min turnaround

Cloud recordings arrive within a few minutes of the call ending. Larger meetings take a little longer.

🔒
ELSA only analyzes segments where you were speaking. Audio is stored encrypted and is used solely to generate your feedback — never for training a model without consent, never shared with your organization unless you’re on a B2B plan and your admin has enabled team reporting.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to invite a bot to my meeting?

No. For most meetings ELSA reads the recording after the call finishes — no bot appears in the participant list. If you want live transcription during the call (RTMS), ELSA can join as a participant on request; ask your ELSA rep to enable it.

What about local recordings (free Zoom accounts)?

Zoom’s free tier only supports local recordings. Turn on local recording before the meeting starts, and ELSA will pull the file the next time you open the app while online.

Can I use ELSA on Zoom on my phone?

Yes. The ELSA mobile app receives your Zoom recordings the same way the web app does. You just need to sign in on both surfaces with the same account.

Which Zoom permissions does ELSA ask for?

A least-privilege scope set covering your meeting list, participant list, cloud recordings, and basic user profile — read-only for those, plus one narrow write scope (meeting:update:meeting) used solely to attach the Meeting Companion bot to your call when a bot join is needed. ELSA never sends messages, never modifies unrelated meeting fields, and never accesses meetings you didn’t attend. The full scope list is in our Privacy Policy.

How do I disconnect Zoom?

In ELSA, go to Settings → Integrations → Zoom → Disconnect. You can also uninstall the ELSA app from Zoom Marketplace at any time — ELSA will stop syncing immediately.

I connected Zoom but I don’t see any meetings.

Give it 60 seconds and refresh — first-time syncs pull the last 30 days of history. If nothing appears, check that the meeting was held on the same Zoom account you connected, and that at least one recording exists on Zoom Cloud.

Can I use ELSA Meeting Companion for Google Meet or Microsoft Teams?

Yes — Google Meet and Microsoft Teams integrations follow a similar flow. See the dedicated how-to guides for those platforms.

Ready to start?

Connect Zoom in under a minute — the next call you record becomes your next coaching session.
