Even sales professionals with strong English communication skills can struggle to handle consumer objections or tailor their sales pitch to different groups of buyers. The Sales Coach feature on ELSA Speak is designed as an intelligent practice solution that helps elevate sales communication skills, refine product pitches, and build confidence to achieve sales goals in international markets. Let’s explore how this feature can help you level up your sales skills!
What is Sales Coach?
Sales Coach is an AI-powered sales practice tool within the ELSA Speak ecosystem. During each session, the AI takes on the role of a buyer, continuously raising questions, concerns, or objections for learners to respond directly by voice. After completing the sales pitch, the app provides an in-depth evaluation of learner’s sales persuasion skills and their English proficiency.

How does Sales Coach work?
The simulation process is designed around real-world customer engagement steps in sales.
- Step 1: Choose a customer group: The learner identifies the target customer.
- Step 2: Identify customer’s needs: Pick a product, service or a specific issue the consumer is interested in.
- Step 3: Let AI take on the role: The AI system acts as a customer with corresponding needs and motivations.
- Step 4: Practice the conversation: Deliver your sales pitch and handle questions using your real voice.
- Step 5: Get feedback: The AI analyzes your response, scores your performance, and recommends areas to improve.

Who is Sales Coach for?
This solution is designed for a wide range of professionals working in global business environments.
- Sales professionals: People who need to present products, services, or solutions in English to international customers.
- Sales consultants and customer service professionals: Retail and service professionals who regularly answer questions and handle customer complaints.
- Product presenters: Individuals preparing to deliver a sales pitch to international partners or investors.
- Learners seeking well-rounded development: Users who want to strengthen both their customer persuasion skills and their business English communication skills.

Benefits of practicing sales with AI
Interacting directly with AI provides valuable advantages before entering real-world sales conversations.
- Test your sales pitch: Rehearse your product presentation thoroughly before making a call or meeting with a real customer.
- Get comfortable with objections: Build confidence in handling hesitation, difficult questions, and objections from buyers.
- Improve language reflexes: Practice responding quickly and staying on point throughout the conversation.
- Identify areas for improvement: Recognize strengths and gaps in how effectively you communicate your product’s value.
- Practice in various scenarios: Practice repeatedly with different customer groups without the pressure or risk of losing a real deal.

Features of Sales Coach
These features are seemingly integrated to deliver a structured, realistic practice experience.
Personalize your target customer
The Sales Coach feature allows learners to precisely define the target audience that they want to reach. Learners can also customize their practice settings by selecting the customer group, identifying a product or need which the buyer is considering, and then having AI take on the corresponding role.
For instance, learners can select the Car buyer persona to practice sleeping a used car, focusing on explaining the vehicle’s condition, price, and warranty policy.

Experience a variety of realistic customer personas
By experiencing various consumer personas, learners will learn to adapt their sales strategies to fit each audience.
- Sales Enablement Lead: Responsible for sales training and focused on training effectiveness and the team’s progress.
- Head of Revenue: Responsible for revenue performance and focused on sales performance and its impact on revenue growth.
- VP of Sales: Leads the Sales department and focuses on team performance and business results.
- CFO: Responsible for financial management and focused on costs, ROI, and investment effectiveness.
- Chief Revenue Officer (CRO): Leads revenue growth and focuses on business impact and the ability to drive revenue.
- Sales Director: Manages the sales team and focuses on employee performance and the ability to apply skills in real-world situations.
Each customer persona has unique motivations and needs. Learners need to adapt how they highlight product benefits rather than relying on the same sales script for every audience.
Practice your sales pitch by voice
Instead of reading materials or choosing from multiple-choice answers, learners deliver their sales pitch directly through their microphone. The AI, acting as the customer, responds or asks challenging questions. When a customer feels that the product is beyond their budget, learners must immediately respond by voice, explain the product’s value, and persuade the customer to reconsider.
Simulate buyer reactions
The AI responds naturally based on the selected customer persona, helping learners develop professional objection-handling skills. These conversations test their ability to communicate product value, explain key benefits, and maintain a clear sales pitch structure. Learners can practice selling the same product to different customer groups and compare the effectiveness of different approaches.
In-depth sales pitch scoring
A multi-dimensional assessment system helps learners evaluate the quality of their sales presentation in detail.
- Situation Questions: Evaluate whether the learner asks questions to understand the customer’s current situation and context.
- Problem Questions: Evaluate whether the learner asks questions to identify the problems or challenges the customer is facing.
- Implication Questions: Evaluate whether the learner asks questions to clarify the impact or consequences of the customer’s problems.
- Need-Payoff Questions: Evaluate whether the learner asks questions that help the customer recognize the value and benefits of solving their problems.
- Objection Handling: Evaluate the learner’s ability to identify, clarify, and appropriately address the customer’s objections or concerns.

English proficiency analysis
Alongside sales skills, Sales Coach analyzes five core English metrics: Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Fluency, Grammar, and Intonation. The system identifies inaccurate words or sentence structures and suggests more professional expressions for learners to listen to and practice again.

Strengths and improvement priorities
The system analyzes your performance data and provides specific guidance for your next practice sessions.
- Top Strengths: Highlights the areas you performed well during the conversation.
- Improvement Priorities: Identifies the skills you should focus on improving in your next practice session.
- Coaching Flags: Flags specific issues, such as an Incomplete Answer, Too Generic content, or No Specific Examples.
